Outlook is a email client application offered by Microsoft to manage personal data such as emails, notes, task details and so on. The data management in Outlook is fully performed in a personal storage table also known as pst file. In MS Outlook 2002 or previous versions, the PST file is set in ANSI ( American National Standards Institute) file format while the later version follows Unicode format. The earlier version has size limitation of 2GB while recent Outlook versions has 20 GB default size control. If the size of PST file reaches somewhere to its size limits then the entire Outlook performance will become abnormal. In such a situation, pst splitter program could be very handy in minimizing the Pst file size.
Issues created due to PST file Oversize
- Sending and receiving mails process would become very slow.
- On Outlook start up, various kinds of error messages could be noticed such as “error has been detected in the file”file path”. This error message is very common with earlier Outlook version
- The whole pst file could get corrupted if additional data is added in the personal storage table
